Bio
Recruited from the industrial ranks of the ICI works team in Deer Park, Billy Power was a sturdy utility player whose brief VFL career was heavily impacted by the Second World War. After breaking into the Footscray lineup in 1940, he spent his early years on the fringe of senior selection, often playing a defensive role that yielded no goals across his tenure. His footballing prime was effectively sacrificed for the war effort, with his career put on hold for three seasons while he served in the Royal Australian Air Force. Power returned to the Western Oval in 1946 for a final run of games, but unable to cement a permanent spot in the post-war side, he departed the league to continue his career with Oakleigh in the VFA.
