Stats
Bio
Recruited from Warrnambool in Victoria's Western District, Billy Sarll earned his opportunity with St Kilda late in the 1920 season. A forward capable of hitting the scoreboard, he was introduced to the senior lineup as the Saints limped toward the wooden spoon, playing the final four matches of the year. His brief career is best remembered for a unique statistical quirk: in just his second VFL appearance, the 20-year-old rookie took the field alongside 43-year-old club legend Vic Cumberland in the veteran's farewell match, creating one of the largest age gaps between teammates in league history. Sarll booted two goals during his month-long stint at the Junction Oval but did not continue his VFL career beyond that season, eventually returning to local football in the country.
