Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Geelong reserves, Billy Stephens arrived at the Western Oval in 1937 as a versatile option for the Bulldogs. Standing 180cm, he possessed the size to play as a marking target in attack or push further up the ground, offering a useful link-up option. He showed early promise in front of the big sticks, notably booting two goals against Melbourne at the MCG during his debut year. Despite managing to kick five goals across his seven senior appearances, Stephens struggled to cement a regular spot in the starting lineup. His VFL career was ultimately short-lived, concluding after the 1938 season as he drifted away from the league's top flight.
