Bio
A tall recruit hailing from Ocean Grove on the Bellarine Peninsula, Billy Wilton was a significant physical presence for Geelong during the pre-war era. Standing 184cm—a considerable height for a footballer in the early 1900s—he was primarily utilised as a follower and forward target capable of providing a strong contest in the air. Wilton's VFL career was split into two distinct chapters; after breaking into the senior side as a teenager in 1908 and playing through the 1909 season, he spent four years away from the league, largely playing district football where he was also associated with the Drysdale Football Club. He was recalled to the Pivotonians' lineup in 1914 for a final string of games, concluding his brief senior tenure shortly before the onset of the Great War.
