Bio
Recruited from Swan Districts in the WAFL, Bob Beecroft arrived at Fitzroy in 1976 and immediately established himself as a potent key forward. A strong-marking target with a reliable set shot, he became the focal point of the Lions' attack, topping the club's goalkicking list for four consecutive seasons between 1977 and 1980. His most productive campaign came in 1979, where he booted 87 goals and earned State of Origin selection for Western Australia, cementing his reputation as one of the league's most effective full-forwards. Despite maintaining a high average of over three goals per game, his VFL career was relatively brief, concluding after the 1980 season when he transferred to Woodville in the SANFL.
