Bio
Recruited from South Melbourne Technical School, Bob Bibby was a wartime enlistee to the St Kilda list who debuted as a teenager in the middle of the 1944 season. Standing 179cm, he operated primarily as a mid-sized defensive utility, filling crucial gaps in a depleted lineup while the league dealt with player shortages during World War II. Bibby enjoyed a consistent run early in his career, playing 25 of his 32 games across his first two seasons as a regular selection for the Saints. However, like many young players of his era, he found his spot in the senior side under pressure once established servicemen returned to the club in 1946 and 1947. Unable to retain a permanent place in the post-war lineups, he played his final VFL game at just 22 years of age.
