Bio
A diminutive recruit from Hawthorn in the metropolitan juniors, Bob Bodington's League career was defined by the interruption of the Great War. Although he trained with the Demons as early as the 1914 pre-season, he soon departed to serve with the 10th Field Ambulance in France, delaying his senior debut until 1919. Upon his return, he joined a Melbourne side in the midst of a disastrous winless season, using his 169cm frame to contest play as a small utility. His comeback was ultimately cut short by misfortune; after managing just five appearances across two seasons, he suffered a career-ending injury against Collingwood early in 1920, leaving him as one of the many "what if" stories of the post-war era.
