Bio
Hailing from Millicent in South Australia, Bob Clifford was a solid defender who arrived at Punt Road as a teenager for the 1957 pre-season. After honing his craft in the reserves, he broke into the senior side the following year, utilised primarily in the back pocket or off half-back where his 185cm frame provided a strong defensive presence. His VFL tenure was limited to a single senior campaign, as he crossed to the VFA to join Moorabbin in 1959. Clifford subsequently embarked on a successful country football journey, serving as a captain-coach for regional clubs including Nathalia and Koondrook before eventually returning to his native Millicent as a club administrator.
