Bio
Recruited from the Footscray Fourths, Bob Cockerell was a diminutive rover who worked his way through the club's junior development pathways to crack the senior side late in 1971. Standing just 175cm, he was a nippy ball-winner who established himself as a regular fixture during the 1972 season, playing 18 games and alternating between the midfield and forward pocket. He showed promise with his ability to hit the scoreboard—including a three-goal performance against St Kilda—but his career at the top level was surprisingly short-lived. Despite being a regular selection for the Bulldogs at just 20 years of age, he departed the VFL scene completely following his breakout season.
