Bio
Hailing from the fertile football breeding ground of Tasmania, Bob Delanty was recruited from City-South Launceston to join his older brother, 1958 premiership defender Mike Delanty, at Collingwood. Arriving at Victoria Park for the 1961 season, the younger Delanty was deployed as a half-forward flanker, contrasting with his brother's established role in the key defensive posts. He broke into the senior side for five appearances that year and managed to register a major, but struggled to secure a regular place in a competitive Magpies lineup. His VFL career was ultimately limited to that single season, with his brief stint serving as a footnote to his brother's more extensive tenure at the club.
