Bio
A tall utility capable of drifting forward, Bob Gray served as a depth player for Footscray during the mid-1960s. Standing 188cm—a significant height for the era—Gray offered a strong aerial target and provided structural support for the Bulldogs during the tenure of legendary captain-coach Ted Whitten. He made his senior debut in 1963, a year the club reached the Grand Final, and proved to be a handy goal-kicker when given the opportunity, booting 20 majors across his career at an average of nearly a goal a game. Despite his ability to hit the scoreboard, Gray struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup and remained on the fringes of selection until departing the Western Oval at the conclusion of the 1966 season.
