Bio
Born in South Melbourne, Bob Jacobson was a diminutive footballer who arrived at Princes Park at the dawn of the club's celebrated Jack Worrall era. Standing only 170cm, he was thrown immediately into the fray for the opening round of the 1903 season, playing a role in the Blues' flying start as they won their first five matches on the trot. He held his spot in the side for the first eight consecutive weeks, likely operating as a small defender or utility given his lack of scoreboard impact, but was omitted following a narrow loss to Collingwood in Round 7 and a win against Essendon in Round 8, never returning to the senior lineup. With opportunities limited as Carlton built toward their famous premiership hat-trick, Jacobson eventually departed the VFL system, transferring to Footscray in the VFA in 1906 to continue his career.
