Bio
Bob Milgate was an Auburn recruit who arrived at Glenferrie Oval following service in the Australian Army during World War II. Making his debut in 1948, he showed immediate aptitude near the big sticks, booting 15 majors in just 10 senior appearances for the Hawks. Despite this promising strike rate in the VFL, his tenure at the top level was restricted to a single season, and he crossed to Camberwell in the VFA the following year. It was there that the medium-sized forward truly flourished, becoming a potent scoring threat for the Cobras. He topped Camberwell's goalkicking table for three consecutive seasons from 1949 to 1951, cementing a reputation as a dangerous and reliable avenue to goal in the Association before hanging up his boots.
