Bio
Recruited from Horsham, Bob Miller was a versatile tall capable of holding down a key defensive post or rotating through the ruck. He enjoyed a baptism of fire under legendary coach Norm Smith, featuring in finals campaigns during his first three seasons, but his football journey is often defined by a moment of misfortune in 1964. After suffering a hamstring injury mid-season, Miller was unable to force his way back into the senior lineup for the Grand Final, ultimately watching the Demons’ premiership victory as a non-playing emergency. He shocked the club by retiring at just 24 years of age, citing a desire to pursue legal studies in the United States, a move that launched a successful post-football career as a barrister and Victorian Labor politician.
