Bio
Recruited from the strong local junior system at Fitzroy Crescent, Bob Puflett holds the historical distinction of being the 100th player to represent Melbourne in the VFL. He broke into the senior side for the opening round of the 1902 season, featuring in a thrilling one-point victory over South Melbourne at the Lake Oval. Puflett retained his place for the first month of the campaign, playing in a comfortable win over St Kilda before consecutive losses to heavyweights Collingwood and Essendon led to his omission. Unable to reclaim his spot in a side that eventually reached the finals, his VFL career concluded after just four appearances, and he later relocated to New South Wales where he lived until his passing in 1968.
