A West Australian recruit whose football journey was dictated by the Second World War, Bob Robinson arrived at Fitzroy via WAFL club West Perth. His transition to the VFL was driven by his service with the Royal Australian Air Force, which allowed him to play at the elite level while stationed in Melbourne. Standing 183cm, Robinson proved to be a dangerous option inside the forward 50, showing his quality with a four-goal haul against St Kilda in just his fourth game. Despite his promise as a goal-kicking target, his career was ultimately cut short by the demands of his military duties, leaving him as a brief but effective wartime cameo in Fitzroy's history.
