A local product who resided on Brunswick Street, Robert 'Bob' Scott earned his guernsey with Fitzroy in 1919 following his return from overseas service in World War I. Recruited from the Preston District, the 24-year-old was a solidly built utility for his era, standing 180cm and weighing 83kg—attributes that held him in good stead for the physical attrition of VFL football. His career at the elite level was confined exclusively to the league's first post-war season, where he made nine senior appearances as a defensive-minded option who failed to trouble the scorers. Although his time in the Maroons jumper was brief, Scott played a role in the club's transition back to peacetime football before stepping away from the VFL scene to return to civilian life.
