Bio
A product of the local Footscray District League, Bob Slater was recruited from Maidstone to join the Bulldogs in the early 1950s. Standing at 178cm with a solid frame, he was a capable option in attack who knew how to find the goals, managing a major in half of his senior appearances. Despite showing glimpses of talent at the top level, Slater found himself on the fringe of a rapidly improving squad that was strictly managed as it built toward the club's historic 1954 premiership. He managed just six games across two seasons, departing the VFL right on the eve of the club's greatest era.
