Bio
A local product who graduated from the Footscray Fifths, Bob Turner broke into the senior side as an 18-year-old in 1960. Standing just 173cm, the lightweight forward managed four appearances in his debut season but struggled to cement a regular spot in the Bulldogs' lineup. Seeking greater opportunity, he transferred to Williamstown in the VFA the following season, where he established himself as a dynamic half-forward. Turner flourished at the Seagulls, playing in the 1961 VFA Grand Final and eventually winning the club's Best and Fairest award in 1964. His standing in the VFA was solidified when he was named on the half-forward flank in Williamstown's Team of the Decade for the 1960s.
