Bio
The nephew of legendary Footscray Brownlow Medallist Norm Ware, Bob Ware was a versatile tall recruited from the club's thirds who split his time between the ruck and the forward line. He made an immediate impression as a teenager, booting 19 goals in his debut season, and quickly established himself as a mobile backup ruckman capable of impacting the scoreboard. A key member of the 1961 Grand Final side that finished runners-up to Hawthorn, Ware remained a dangerous option in attack throughout his short VFL career, evidenced by a haul of five goals against Geelong in his final season. He departed the Western Oval at just 22 years of age, continuing his football journey with Williamstown in the VFA.
