Bio
Recruited from the Essendon Under-19s, Bob Wilson faced the difficult task of breaking into a formidable Bombers lineup during the mid-1960s. He spent a brief loan spell with Brunswick in the VFA before returning to Windy Hill in 1966 to make his senior debut, featuring in four matches—all of which were Essendon victories. While he claimed the club's Reserves Best and Fairest award that season, highlighting his consistency and ball-winning ability, he was unable to cement a permanent spot in the senior side and departed the VFL soon after. Wilson ultimately forged a significant legacy in Tasmanian football as the captain-coach of Scottsdale, where he steered the club to three NTFA premierships and a famous State Premiership triumph in 1973, eventually earning induction into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.
