Bio
Recruited from Rutherglen, Bobby Ewer was a sturdy ruckman who arrived at Melbourne in 1924. Standing 182cm and weighing 90kg, he possessed the physical dimensions to compete in the contest but found opportunities limited, managing six games in his debut season before drifting to the fringe of the squad. His brief VFL career is best remembered for his final appearance early in the 1925 season, when he was summoned as an emergency defensive replacement for captain Albert Chadwick, who had been ruled out with the flu. Ewer was omitted immediately after the match and cleared back to the Ovens & Murray league in early 1926, departing the top level with the unfortunate distinction of never playing in a winning side across his seven games.
