Recruited from the local Hyde Street Methodists, Albert "Bonnie" Izzard was a diminutive forward who earned a late-season trial with Footscray in 1929. Standing just 173cm, he was thrown into the fray against Richmond in Round 15 and made an immediate impact, hitting the scoreboard on debut. Izzard proved to be a model of consistency during his brief stint at the top level, managing to kick exactly one goal in each of his three senior appearances. Despite this reliable output and a knack for finding space in the forward pocket, his VFL career was confined to that single month of football, with the local recruit returning to the district leagues after the season concluded.
