Bio
Recruited as a seasoned 27-year-old from South Fremantle, Brad Bootsma arrived at Fremantle via the 2000 Pre-Season Draft to provide immediate depth and maturity to the Dockers' list. A rugged utility capable of playing off a half-back flank or in a run-with role through the midfield, he was characterised by his strong tackling and disciplined defensive application rather than flashy ball use. He was often tasked with shutting down dangerous opposition playmakers, relying on his superior work rate and physical strength to nullify their impact. His AFL career concluded after three seasons, after which he returned to the WAFL to cement his status as a South Fremantle premiership player and captain, a family connection later continued at the elite level by his son, Josh.
