Bio
Recruited from Collingwood's reserves, Brad Boyd developed into a classy centreman at Fitzroy, renowned for his poise and precise distribution by foot. He holds a unique place in history as the final captain of the Fitzroy Football Club, appointed to the role at just 23 years of age following the departure of Paul Roos. Boyd led the playing group with dignity during the club's tumultuous final seasons and the eventual merger saga of 1996. Although he was one of the eight players selected to join the newly formed Brisbane Lions, his time in Queensland was severely hampered by chronic back and hamstring issues. These persistent injuries limited him to just 15 games over three seasons in the north, forcing the highly talented midfielder into premature retirement.
