Bio
Drafted from the Tassie Mariners with pick 19 in the 1999 National Draft, Brad Green arrived at Melbourne with a unique sporting pedigree, having famously trialled with Manchester United as a teenager. This soccer background translated into elite foot skills and spatial awareness, allowing him to make an immediate impact during the Demons' charge to the 2000 Grand Final. A smooth-moving utility who eventually settled as a permanent forward, Green was renowned for his courage running back with the flight of the ball, strong overhead marking, and clinical finishing skills that made him a reliable avenue to goal for over a decade.
His individual peak arrived late in his career during the 2010 season, where he booted 55 goals, earned All-Australian honours, and won the Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medal. Following this standout year, he was appointed captain for the 2011 season, tasked with leading a developing list during a tumultuous period for the club. Although his time as skipper was brief and coincided with significant on-field struggles for Melbourne, Green retired in 2012 as a distinguished one-club player and remains one of the few consistent performers from a lean era in the Demons' history.
