Bio
A star for East Perth in the WAFL, Brad Smith crossed to North Melbourne as a mature-age recruit during the club's aggressive interstate recruiting drive under Ron Barassi. Standing an imposing 193cm, he was a powerful utility capable of playing in defence or on the ball, and he featured prominently in his debut VFL season, lining up in the back pocket for the 1974 Grand Final loss to Richmond. Despite this strong start, Smith fell out of the senior rotation during the club's historic 1975 campaign, managing only four appearances and missing the premiership victory. He returned to Western Australia the following season, where he resumed a decorated career that eventually saw him named in East Perth's Team of the Century and coach East Fremantle to a flag.
