Bio
Recruited from Central District, Brad Symes initially found it difficult to cement a regular spot in Port Adelaide's lineup, although he did feature in the club's 2007 Grand Final side. Seeking greater opportunity, he became a notable figure in South Australian football history by completing a rare trade directly to cross-town rivals Adelaide ahead of the 2008 season. The switch paid immediate dividends, as Symes established himself as a courageous, high-possession midfielder and rebounding defender, finishing joint runner-up in the Malcolm Blight Medal in his first year at West Lakes. Despite his ability to find the football, his fearless attack on the contest took a physical toll, and a series of injuries—including jaw fractures and concussion issues—hampered his final seasons before his retirement in 2012.
