Bio
Recruited from the prestigious football nursery of Assumption College, Brendan Burnett joined North Melbourne during the club's golden era under legendary coach Ron Barassi. Standing 182cm, he was a mid-sized utility who showed promise with his ball-winning ability, averaging 13 disposals per game after breaking into the senior side in Round 5, 1978 against Collingwood. However, Burnett faced the unenviable task of trying to cement a permanent spot in a star-studded lineup that featured the likes of Malcolm Blight, Keith Greig, and Wayne Schimmelbusch. Although he managed six appearances during the season, the depth of the Kangaroos' list—which went on to contest the 1978 Grand Final—ultimately squeezed him out of the side. He departed Arden Street after just that single year, a handy player unable to displace the premiership veterans ahead of him.
