Bio
A skilled utility from East Fremantle, Brendan Krummel’s career was defined by resilience in the face of relentless injury setbacks. After managing just a handful of appearances trying to crack West Coast’s powerful early-90s midfield, he crossed town to become an inaugural Docker in 1995, playing in the club’s historic first match before injury restricted him to that solitary game in purple. Krummel found his true AFL footing after reuniting with his former WAFL coach Ken Judge at Hawthorn in 1996, where he reinvented himself as a strong-bodied half-forward and rotation midfielder. While he became a reliable contributor for the Hawks, his time in Victoria is often remembered for a frightening 1999 collision with North Melbourne's Byron Pickett, an incident that prompted the league to tighten rules around front-on contact. Ultimately, the toll of chronic leg injuries forced him to retire midway through the 2000 season.
