Bio
Recruited from East Doncaster, Brendan "Billy" McCormack was a solidly built utility who teased Fitzroy fans with glimpses of genuine brilliance during a difficult era for the club. Standing 187cm, he had the size to play as a key position option but possessed the ball-winning ability of a midfielder, famously racking up 44 disposals in a 1992 match against Adelaide at Princes Park. Despite his talent, McCormack struggled with consistency and fitness standards, often battling weight issues that prevented him from becoming a regular fixture in the Lions' engine room. After being delisted by Fitzroy following the 1992 season, he was thrown a lifeline by the Brisbane Bears with the second pick in the 1993 Pre-Season Draft. He managed 12 games over two seasons in Queensland, showing flashes of his ball-winning capability, but could not cement a permanent spot and was delisted at the end of 1994.
