Bio
Recruited from Maryborough with pick 55 in the 1987 National Draft, Brendan Tranter was a wingman who faced the difficult task of breaking into a powerhouse Collingwood lineup. He experienced a baptism of fire late in 1989, retaining his spot to play in an Elimination Final in just his fifth senior game. However, Tranter found himself on the fringe during the Magpies' historic 1990 premiership campaign, managing only a single senior appearance as the club broke its 32-year drought. Despite proving his consistency by winning the Joseph Wren Memorial Trophy as the Reserves Best and Fairest in 1991, he struggled to bypass the star-studded midfield depth ahead of him and departed the club after the 1992 season. He later returned to the Bendigo Football League, where he cemented his legacy as a dual premiership player and two-time Nalder Medallist with Maryborough.
