Bio
Recruited from Woodville-West Torrens with pick 41 in the 2016 National Draft, Brennan Cox initially arrived at Fremantle as a versatile key position prospect capable of playing at either end of the ground. His early years at the Dockers were defined by a search for consistency, as he spent time developing as a forward without fully commanding a permanent place in the best 22. It was not until he settled into the backline that he truly began to realise his potential, transforming from a utility into a cornerstone of the club's defensive structure.
Under the guidance of Justin Longmuir, Cox evolved into an elite intercept defender known for his relaxed demeanour and precise ball use by foot. His ability to read the play and peel off his opponent saw him earn selection in the All-Australian squad in 2022, establishing a formidable partnership with fellow defenders Alex Pearce and Luke Ryan. While injuries occasionally interrupted his momentum, Cox remained a vital component of Fremantle's spine into his ninth and tenth seasons, offering the flexibility to swing forward when required but largely serving as a composed and reliable presence in the defensive 50.
