Bio
Recruited from Southport as a remarkably young 15-year-old zone selection in the 1991 draft, Brent Green was a long-term project player for the Brisbane Bears who required several seasons of development before making his senior debut. A versatile 197cm key position prospect capable of playing in defence or pinch-hitting in the ruck, he was an inaugural member of the merged Brisbane Lions squad but found opportunities limited in the club's strengthening era. Seeking greater game time, he was traded to the Sydney Swans for the 1998 season—a move historically noted for providing the draft pick Brisbane used to secure Brownlow Medallist Simon Black—where he showed flashes of potential as a forward-ruck, kicking eight goals in seven matches. However, his career was cut short by recurring injuries that forced his retirement at just 22, and he is remembered fondly by the football community following his tragic passing in 2009.
