Bio
Recruited from the Calder Cannons with the 12th pick in the 2001 National Draft, Brent Reilly overcame a slow start to establish himself as a vital component of the Adelaide Crows' lineup for more than a decade. For the majority of his career, he operated as an outside midfielder or run-with player, relying on his elite endurance and a booming right boot to break lines, though he occasionally struggled with consistency. His career trajectory shifted dramatically in 2012 when he was reinvented as a rebounding defender; the positional switch highlighted his ability to read the play and distribute the ball with precision from the back half, earning him an All-Australian nomination and a top-five finish in the club champion award.
A loyal one-club player, Reilly reached the 200-game milestone in 2014, securing life membership at West Lakes. However, his playing days concluded abruptly and in distressing circumstances during the 2015 pre-season. Following a collision in a training drill, he suffered a fractured skull that required major surgery, eventually forcing his retirement on medical advice. Despite the unfortunate end to his tenure, Reilly remains respected for his resilience and his successful late-career transformation into a general of the Adelaide defence.
