Bio
A product of the Williamstown Seagulls in the VFL, Brett Bewley had to bide his time before entering the AFL system as a mature-age recruit. After impressing with his elite endurance and consistency at state league level, he was selected by Fremantle with pick 59 in the 2018 National Draft, arriving at the Dockers alongside fellow Seagull Lachie Schultz. A prototypical wingman, Bewley was renowned for his exceptional running capacity and a penetrating left-foot kick that allowed him to break lines and drive the ball inside 50. Despite these physical attributes, he found it difficult to lock down a permanent position in Fremantle's lineup, often operating on the fringes of selection throughout his three seasons. After being delisted and subsequently re-rookied ahead of the 2021 season, he managed to add a handful of games to his tally but ultimately could not secure a long-term future at the club, departing at the end of 2021 to return to state league football.
