Bio
A persistent mature-age recruit, Brett "The Birdman" Evans took the long road to senior football after originally being drafted by Melbourne in the 1993 Mid-Season Draft. While he tasted success in the Demons' 1993 reserves premiership side, he was delisted without a senior appearance and returned to Springvale in the VFL to ply his trade. Handed a second lifeline by Richmond with pick 6 in the 1997 Pre-Season Draft, Evans emerged as a determined mid-sized forward capable of hitting the scoreboard, enjoying his best campaign in 1998 when he booted 17 goals. Though unable to cement a permanent spot in the Tigers' best 22 over four seasons, he remained a popular clubman before returning to his junior club, Narre Warren, where he became a local legend by playing in five MPNFL premierships.
