Bio
Recruited from the Dandenong Stingrays with pick 70 in the 1997 National Draft, Brett Knowles was a diligent utility capable of playing both in the midfield and as a small defender. He made a promising start to his career at St Kilda, debuting in Round 1 of 1998 and featuring in 16 matches during his first season. Despite his work rate and versatility, Knowles found it difficult to cement a permanent spot in the senior side over the subsequent three years, often operating on the fringe of the best 22. He was eventually delisted at the conclusion of the 2001 season, finishing his AFL tenure with 43 games before moving to South Australia where he enjoyed significant premiership success with Sturt in the SANFL.
