Bio
Recruited from the Prahran Dragons with a prized first-round selection, Brett O'Farrell was a towering ruck-forward prospect who showed immediate potential during his brief stint with Sydney. He famously joined the select group of players to boot a goal with his very first kick in AFL football, showing enough form to hold his spot in the senior side for the Swans' 1998 finals campaign. His promise was such that Hawthorn parted with a top-five draft pick to secure his services the following season, earmarking him as the long-term successor to veteran ruckman Paul Salmon. Unfortunately, his tenure at Glenferrie Oval was derailed by persistent injuries, restricting him to just a handful of appearances over three seasons and leaving him as a talent that went largely unfulfilled at the highest level.
