Bio
Recruited from The Rock-Yerong Creek in the Riverina, Brett Scott was a skilled centreman whose promising career was heavily curtailed by persistent injuries. He debuted for South Melbourne in 1981 and transitioned with the club to New South Wales, featuring in the Swans' historic first match in Sydney. When fit, Scott was a classy operator with a penetrating kick who looked at home in the midfield, but he battled severe shoulder and hamstring problems that restricted him to just 59 games across nine seasons. The arrival of Greg Williams in 1986 further limited his opportunities in the centre square, eventually leading to his retirement in 1989. He remains a unique figure in Swans history for stepping up as caretaker coach for two matches in 1993 following the dismissal of Gary Buckenara, a role he fulfilled while simultaneously working full-time as a warehouse manager.
