Teams

Recruited from Kyneton in the Bendigo Football League, Brian Bowe was a diminutive player who found senior opportunities limited during his two seasons at the Junction Oval. After managing just 14 appearances for St Kilda without registering a goal, he initially returned to country football in 1960 before his career was revitalised by a familiar face. Former Saints coach Alan Killigrew, who had moved to South Australia to coach Norwood, remembered Bowe’s character and lured him across the border to the SANFL. The move justified the faith of the famous "Hot Guts" coach, as Bowe established himself as a reliable contributor for the Redlegs, playing 74 games between 1961 and 1965 to carve out a successful state-league career after his brief stint in the VFL.
