Bio
Recruited from Xavier College, Brian Brushfield was a half-forward who found senior opportunities limited amidst the incredible depth of Geelong's golden era in the early 1960s. The nephew of former Cat Nick Brushfield, he managed 15 senior games—including the infamous 1963 "Miracle Match" loss to Fitzroy—but was best known at Kardinia Park as a key member of the club's back-to-back reserves premierships in 1963 and 1964. He departed for the VFA to captain-coach Geelong West, guiding the Roosters to a Division 2 premiership in 1968 before retiring from the field at just 24 to focus on family business. Brushfield maintained a lifelong connection to the game as a selector, the president of the Cats' past players association, and a popular radio commentator for 3GL (later K-Rock) for over two decades.
