Bio
Recruited from Portarlington on the Bellarine Peninsula, Brian Chirgwin arrived at Kardinia Park as a highly rated junior after winning the Polwarth League Best and Fairest in 1965. The teenage rover and forward pocket made a remarkably efficient start to his VFL career in 1966, booting eight goals in just three senior appearances, including a haul of four in a single match. Despite showing a dangerous eye for the goals and averaging almost three majors per game, his time at the top level was confined to a brief three-week cameo as an 18-year-old. Chirgwin remained a loyal servant of the club long after his playing days ended, becoming a fixture on the committee of the Geelong Past Players and Officials Association.
