Bio
Recruited from Cobden, Brian Coleman was a half-back who played a brief career at Windy Hill in the early 1950s. Often confused with his legendary teammate John Coleman, to whom he was no relation, Brian was a fringe player who started on the bench for seven of his ten senior appearances. He left the VFL after the 1953 season to join Maryborough in the Ballarat Football League, where he eventually developed into a premier country footballer and won the league’s Best and Fairest award in 1961. Outside of football, he served as a police constable, but his life was cut tragically short in 1966 when he died aged 34 following a gymnasium accident.
