Bio
Recruited from VFA club Camberwell, Brian Coleman joined Hawthorn as a rover in 1959, managing six senior games and five goals in a short playing stint. While he featured in the club's reserves premiership that year, his on-field contributions were ultimately just the prologue to a monumental administrative career at Glenferrie Oval. Returning to the club as a coach, he led the under-19s to a flag in 1972 before becoming the Chairman of Selectors during Hawthorn's unparalleled golden era, overseeing five senior premierships between 1983 and 1995. Coleman also stepped into the breach as club President in 1996, guiding the Hawks through the financial instability and political turmoil of the failed merger with Melbourne, a lifetime of service that saw him inducted into the Hawthorn Hall of Fame.
