Bio
Recruited from Melbourne Grammar, Brian Davie was a rugged, straight-ahead operator who established himself as a key pillar in the Richmond defence during the 1950s. While he showed early promise as a forward—booting four goals against Fitzroy in his debut season—he soon settled into a role as a close-checking backman capable of holding down full-back or centre half-back. His athletic versatility was evident, though it nearly cost him his 1957 campaign when he injured his knee while hurdling; remarkably, he recovered to play 17 games that year and even captained the side three times in the absence of Des Rowe. A one-time Victorian representative, Davie’s contribution to Tigerland extended well beyond his playing days, as he later served as the club's orthopaedic surgeon for 15 years and was awarded Life Membership for his enduring service.
