Stats
Bio
Recruited from local stronghold St Mary's, Brian Fitzgerald was a tall key position player who broke into the Geelong side during the 1947 season. Standing 185cm, he possessed the physical attributes to hold down a key post in defence or the ruck but found opportunities limited at the elite level, managing just five senior appearances without scoring a goal. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the lineup during a rebuilding phase for the Cats, his VFL career was brief. He ultimately returned to St Mary's, where he established a significant legacy as a club stalwart, eventually being honoured with life membership for his enduring contribution to grassroots football in the Geelong region.
