Teams

Recruited from Glenroy in the Essendon District Football League, Brian Neal was a goal-kicking forward who produced a startling burst of form during a brief VFL career with North Melbourne. After making a quiet debut late in the 1969 season, the 185cm attacker returned to the senior lineup midway through 1970 and immediately found the goals, booting three majors in three consecutive appearances against Richmond, Hawthorn, and Geelong. Neal looked to be a promising find for the Kangaroos, but after managing just one goal in his next outing against St Kilda, he lost his spot in the side and never added to his five-game tally. While his time at Arden Street was fleeting, he finished with a remarkable average of two goals per game.
