Bio
Recruited from local side Abbotsford, Brian Renwood was a tough half-back who endured one of the more unusual apprenticeships in Collingwood history. After finishing runner-up in the Morrish Medal as an under-19s player in 1954, he left the club briefly before being coaxed back for the 1957 season. His three-game senior career was an exercise in patience; he was named on the bench for his first two selected matches without actually taking the field, finally getting his sole run of roughly 45 minutes against North Melbourne in Round 4. Despite his fleeting on-field contribution, Renwood became a dedicated figure at Victoria Park for decades, serving as a committeeman and life member of the Past Players Association while working as a fireman.
