Bio
Arriving at Melbourne as part of the club's pioneering Irish recruitment drive, Brian Stynes attempted to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Brownlow Medallist Jim Stynes. He joined the Demons with high hopes but found the transition from Gaelic football to the Australian code difficult, managing just two senior appearances during the 1992 season. While he possessed the natural athleticism and endurance characteristic of the Irish converts, he struggled to adapt to the technical nuances of the game and failed to cement a regular spot in the senior lineup. After being delisted at the conclusion of the 1993 season, Stynes returned to Ireland where he validated his elite sporting pedigree, playing a pivotal role in Dublin's 1995 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship victory.
